ALIGNMENT

 

A personality is a blend of mental energy, of emotional energy and of vital force [concentrated in the etheric body], and these three are masked, hidden or revealed by an outer shell or form of dense physical matter, itself a form of negative energy. The result of this union of three energies in an objective form is self-consciousness. Their fusion produces that sense of individuality which justifies the word, “I”, and which relates all occurrences to a self. Where this central conscious entity exists, utilising the mind, reacting sensuously through the emotional body, and energising the dense physical [via the vital body] then one has a personality. It is selfconsciousness in form. It is a sense of identity, however, which persists only during the creative process, and for as long as the matter aspect and the consciousness aspect present the eternal duality of nature. Thus, personality, is that state of awareness which has its conditioning factor in the lower mind [influenced by negative energy of body-matter], but this can be transcended when the lower mind [mind stuff] no longer controls.

By alignment is ment the alignment of the Higher Self with the personality, or in more detail, the alignment of the three vehicles of the personality, the physical body or etheric body, the emotional body, and the lower mind body, within the causal body of the Soul, or Higher Self. The mental body must be stable, strongly positive in reception from above, whilst negative to lower vibrations. The astral body must be clear, uncoloured and still. The physical body must have steady nerves and stable rhythm.  This only happens by the time the third initiation is taken when the pineal gland and the pituitary body are functioning with correlation. When the fifth initiation is taken the interplay between these two centres and the third, or alta major centre, is perfected. Only then do we have perfect alignment. As you can see this is a long process that takes a long time and lots of meditation.

We can also say that it is largely a question of matter and vibration. When you have built into your physical, emotional and mental bodies, matter of the third subplane of each of those planes, then the Higher Self begins to consciously function through the aligning personality, because each subplane has its correlation on the major planes by which oscillation is achieved.

As the results of alignment there is a downflow of force via the Sutratma, or magnetic cord, from the Soul to the brain via the mind body. The light first throws into relief and brings into the foreground of consciousness those thought-forms and entities which depict the lower life, the Dweller on the Threshold. Only now can the real work of the Higher Self in any particular incarnation really begin and be accomplished. Relationships to the Hierarchy automatically takes place and the aspirant becomes a leader amongst men and can now be used by the Hierarchy. Real abstract thoughts become possible because the personality is dominated by the Higher Self and the dominating ray of the Ego blends with the personality ray to combine their tones. This is later followed by the full chord of the monad.
